It’s that time of year again. Alternating scents of pine and apple pie waft thorough the house. Your family is telling funny stories from the past and lamenting the fact that you don’t get to spend time together like this more often. There are of course ugly sweaters, fruit-cake, mistletoe, and your uncle who always has a little too much eggnog. And while the fun and laughter fade year after year, two things remain: memories and stains.
Here are a few tips to help you survive your family members and save your carpet:
Drink responsibly (and keep it away from that uncle how doesn’t know when to quit). If a little red wine spills on your carpet, immediately pour white wine over it to neutralize the spill. Follow that by covering the area with table salt and then with white towels, dab the stain until it is dry and disappears. If the stain is stubborn, do not hesitate to have our Certified Technicians come in and take care of the tough job.
Don’t let this little guy fool you; it is just as potent as his red cousin. These stains are often harder to identify, but if you do have one, flush it with cold water and a little club soda, and blot dry with a clean, white towel.
Dab the affected area with dish washing liquid using a white cotton cloth. Rinse with distilled white vinegar until gone. Coffee and tea stains can easily be tackled with white vinegar using a white towel and a simple cool-water rinse.
